DIVE IN: MARINE EDUCATION 360° VIDEO SERIES

Coral reef ecosystems are among the most biodiverse yet vulnerable habitats on Earth, facing numerous human-induced threats. Developing a solution-oriented education program is crucial to protecting and restoring these critical ecosystems.

This project created a marine science education program that leveraged 360-degree video technology, comprehensive lesson plans, and innovative teaching methods to virtually connect classrooms and communities with real-world conservation efforts in endangered coral reefs. Targeting coastal communities in Honduras and Florida, the program seeks to bridge the gap between local dependency on these ecosystems and limited access to marine science education.

BRINGING THE OCEAN TO THE CLASSROOM

Supported by the Toledo Arts Commission, we traveled across Ohio to share the ocean with students at various high schools and universities. Pictured left are students at Bowling Green State University using Oculus Headsets to explore the ocean. After completing our Midwest tour, the headsets were sent to Honduras to be used by the Roatan Marine Park to support their ocean literacy program and to show young students what the world beneath the waves looks like. Video narration was completed in Spanish for these students.
